Public Health England is proud to support Breastfeeding Celebration Week from Monday 17th June 2019. The theme of the week is to promote the benefits of skin to skin contact, both immediately after birth and throughout the early weeks of life. England has one of the lowest breastfeeding rates in the world - 80% of babies are breastfed at birth and only 1% are exclusively breastfed by 6 months. The NHS England Community Pharmacy Oral Health Campaign is running for one month from 13th May until 13 June 2019. This coincides with National Smile Month. Tooth decay is largely preventable yet it remains a serious problem. PHE data shows that in 2015, a quarter of 5-year-olds experienced tooth decay in England, and the vast majority went untreated. In 2015-2016 tooth decay was the most common reason for hospital admission for children aged 5 to 9 years-old and the sixth most common procedure in hospital for children aged 4 years and under.
